Meanwhile, we are still cleaning up tree mess. Amazing how long it takes to chainsaw 2 trees & haul everything down to the end of the driveway. Our poor neighbors.....they just moved in 2 months ago....& lost 6 HUGE trees. What a mess!! But my motto is.....it could have been worse!!

Hopefully I will have a card soon....I had started one before the storm on Monday & haven't had time to finish. Funny how your daily schedule & goings-on can change in an instant!!!

Destruction

Well it has been a very long 24 hours! At this time last night, we had just gotten home from Matthew's baseball game.....where it was very humid, but calm & cooling off nicely. 30 minutes later we were in our basement, watching the weather radar on the news telling us to take cover quickly because some tornado-producing storms were approaching quickly. Our power went out in the middle of it.....so we sat in pitch black, listening to the loud cracks of thunder & the wind howling. It was so scary! My husband works 2nd shift, so it was just me & the boys!! As it turns out, we were VERY lucky........this is all that happened to us....

(just one tree, 2 different angles)

Unfortunately, in the next town over, & in another town east of us, tornadoes did touch down. Thankfully no one was hurt, but 100 homes were damaged & another 25 were completely destroyed. Lucky lucky lucky.....I feel very lucky. It was a crap shoot......some of the homes that were leveled.....their neighbors across the street didn't even lose a shingle. Please keep these families in your thoughts!!!!

So.....today was spent cleaning up......trees in our cul-de-sac have been completely uprooted....& praying for our power to come back on. At one point I called the electric company & they said it would be sometime tomorrow night before our power was restored. We lucked out.....it came on about an hour ago. It was about 90 degrees today & about 1000% humidity.....I've had the air on since the power came back on & it hasn't even made a dent in the heat!!

I was supposed to have a job interview tomorrow......but I called & postponed it. I am so excited about this interview....I have been trying to get into this company for a loooooong time....so hopefully they understand that sometimes Mother Nature takes over & there's nothing you can do. I don't think it would make a very good impression if I came to an interview not having showered for 2 days!! LOL!!

They are predicting more storms for tonight......if this is the way our summer is going to be....I might just become a winter person!

Rain, rain, go away.....

Ok well I started this card yesterday, when it was POURING out & I just wanted it to go away!! Now I finally finished it.....& the sun is out :) It's a gorgeous day & *finally* Michael will get to play his first baseball game tonight! His games kept getting canceled....while Matthew has played 3 already!! I told him that summer in Wisconsin is a crap shoot!

So I was going through my bins of High Hopes rubber & found Willard Weather Ant.....not to mention a ton of rubber I haven't even used yet!! I will not buy any more stamps until I've used ALL the ones I have that haven't seen ink!! So many cute High Hopes stamps......& remember you can order them from 7 Kids College Fund!!! If you don't see what you want, just ask!

I stamped Willard onto SU's Naturals White & colored him with my Copic markers. I seem to be using the Copics more these days.....& for what they cost that is a good thing! The papers are SU Sage Shadow (with a bit of ink sponged on....wasn't *quite* the right shade) & My Mind's Eye. I paper pieced the umbrella & added Glossy Accents to the boots. I actually ended up coloring the boots twice....I had colored the flowers orange the first time & it just didn't look right so I did it again with pink flowers...much better :)

Can you believe my Martha Stewart doily punch isn't working??? I must have worn it out......sniffle......
...& I can't live without it so I'll have to buy a new one. And yes, I used foil.....& I tried putting it in the freezer.....nothing revived it. So....I had to use a different punch for under the lace....this one is the Fiskars Threading Water border punch. Not what I wanted for this card but it will have to do!

Here's a close up of Willard....cutest ant ever!! I am blessed to have so much HH rubber, even if I haven't used them all!! Did you see that High Hopes has new releases coming out of their ears?? AND a new artist!!! Check out their blog HERE for all the info!!

Sunflower Tilda

Hello & TGIF!! First day of summer vacation & it was soooooo nice to be able to sleep in & not have to BE anywhere at any specific time. We ran a few errands today.....nothing too stressful, lol....it's still hard to believe school is over for the year!! It always takes a while to sink in. It will sink in when the boys start arguing :)

I wanted this Tilda for soooooo long but it seems every time I tried to order her, she was out of stock. She's one popular little girl!! She's called Tilda with Sunflower & she's from the Halloween & Autumn collection. It's not Halloween nor autumn, but I think sunflowers are summery too! I can never grow any.....the critters eat the seeds before they sprout....but of course they do pop up where I *don't* want them. Probably my original seeds that have been relocated!! I need to start them in pots & THEN put them in the ground, I think!

Anyway, Tilda is colored with Prismas.....& her RED sunflower is popped up (I LOVE red sunflowers!!!).....paper is Basic Grey Mellow...the usual ribbon & Dew Drops :)

Lots of Stickles around the edge of the image......

& on the Primas....I love these little roses!! I inked these with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. The leaves are a Sizzix die.

Hope you have a great weekend!!!!

Tilda with Rose

Happy Monday!! Told ya I'd be back today!! And I have a Tilda card using an image I've never inked up before.....horrors!!

Wow are my colors off, I just noticed!! Well this is Pink Tilda with Rose....& she is one of many stamps I received about a year ago from one of my blog readers, Elaine. I am forever grateful to her for sending me so many goodies....& hey, I haven't heard from her in a while!! Elaine, if you're out there, drop me a line!!!

Anyway, Tilda is colored with Prismas....& I paper pieced her dress, so really there wasn't that much coloring to be done!! The papers are SU's Rose Red (which isn't looking very Rose Reddish in my photos!!) & K&Company Madeline. I distressed all the edges, using my distress tool & Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.....the butterfly is actually cut out from one of the pieces of paper in the Madeline pad...& I added Star Dust Stickles to the edges. I also added Stickles to the rose she is holding....her wings.....her dress edging....& to the cluster of flowers in the corner. Lots of sparkle on this one :)

Sorry for the cruddy photos....Tilda's looking a bit wan in these pictures!! She needs a tan!!

The butterfly was the perfect size....I added 3 half pearls to the center....

And the lovely array of flowers! I love the pearls everyone has been using .....I don't know where everyone is getting theirs but I am cheap & bought a big whole thing of them at Michael's for $2.99!! They will last me a very long time (especially considering I've only been making a card a week, lol)

Well I am off to get ready for Matthew's first baseball game tonight. I went & got cleats today....& the socks....& the gloves.....nothing like waiting till the last minute....& good grief nobody told me when I signed him up that I would have to buy all this "stuff". Of course, the only thing he really NEEDED....that were REQUIRED....were the pants. But apparently you can't play good baseball if you're not dressed properly with all of the accessories!!!!!

A cloudy, rainy, sunny, thundery Sunday!!

That's right....it's doing everything here in WI today....bright & sunny....& at the same time thundering & pouring!! I wish I could get a good picture....I'm sure there is a rainbow somewhere out there!! I'm just glad it's not snowing, lol!!

No new card yet....hopefully tomorrow. I stamped an image last week Wednesday & am finally finishing up that card tonight. Quick I'm not. I envy those who can get a card done in one day!!

Latest from 7 Kids College Fund: Magnolia Wedding collection & Copic refills! Tab has added the latest collection of Tildas & Edwins to the store, PLUS a *ton* of Copic refills!! She has added the most popular, but if you aren't seeing what you need, let her know & she will order it for you!! How's that for service??

Summer!!

Summer days are just about here & I can't wait!! Just a few more days of school....then no more getting up early & rushing around....no more homework....no more concerts....no more Scouts....the only scheduled thing we have going on is baseball & the break will be so nice! But...check back in a month...I'm sure I'll be ready for school to start!!

This darling is called Kickin' from Penny Black & it is THE perfect summer image!! My LSS recently started selling Amuse stamps, so I got to stock up on some of my favorite sentiments. I've never owned an Amuse sentiment before so it's pretty exciting for me!! I used Copics to color the image & cut it out with my oval Nesties. The papers are a mix of Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety & DCWV Citrus. I used this week's Friday Sketchers sketch for the layout & added a ton of flowers & stitching. I was ready to throw my sewing machine out the window halfway through.....I was using the zig zag stitch, but only got a zag in some places!! So I had to go back & restitch some parts by hand. I think it's time for a new machine!!

Here's a close up of the image.....I paper pieced the hammock, mostly because I didn't like how I colored it, lol. But I think it turned out kinda cool...wish I had a hammock like that! Heck, I wish I had a hammock of any kind!!

The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. I sprayed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist & sponged the edges with Fired Brick Distress Ink. I'd *really* like the Monarch punch but am having trouble finding it in the stores here! I didn't realize that baby was so popular!

I also sprayed all the flowers & leaves with the Glimmer Mist....not sure you can see the shimmer but maybe if you click on it!!

Thank you so much for visiting! Hope you all had a great Memorial weekend! We had 4 days off & it was great.....was a bit lazy.....gotta practice being lazy for all those summer days, lol!!
