Halloween version of Tuesday Muse

Hello & Happy Tuesday! Halloween is still officially 2 days away, but we are pretty much done here. We had Trick or Treat on Sunday - so we are pretty much ready to move on to the next holiday!

Isn't he just so scary? My older one was bummed that we had Trick or Treat on SUNDAY from 1-4. Not on Halloween, & in the middle of the day. That's when we usually have it. So he didn't go. It was just me & this very scary skeleton zombie thing.

Last year was the only year in the 11 years we've lived here that they had it ON Halloween night, from 5-7. It was NOT for me. I know most people prefer it to be on Halloween night & I totally get that, but we live in a rural area - no streetlights - the houses are pretty far apart - & last year my husband was in the hospital recuperating from major surgery. So it was me & the boys. It really was a bit unsettling. I probably should have met up with neighbors or a bodyguard, but the boys had a blast.

He didn't do too badly considering we were only out for about an hour & a half! Last year he had a retainer glued in his mouth so he couldn't have ANYTHING chewy, sticky or crunchy. Which was just about everything. Clearly he didn't know what the heck to eat first. He looks pretty deep in thought!

Do all kids do this?? My husband said "Uh oh .... he takes after your OCD side". Michael informed him he HAD to organize it all so he could take inventory of all his received goods. LOL!

So .... when is your Trick or Treat?? Did you have it already, or do you have it in the dark of Halloween night?

Tuesday Muse

I actually have 2 photos to share today. They must be posted together.

This hummingbird must have visited every day, because she sat on the same shrub, same branch, every. single. time. I really must remember to keep the tripod by the patio door next summer. All my hummingbird shots were sans tripod. And I could have kept it in the direction of that one branch. Obviously all our hummingbirds are gone now ....  and I will miss them .... but I don't blame them. It was 25 degrees this morning when my son left for the bus stop. Yes, that's Fahrenheit! Brrrrrrr....

Oh, & the other photo?

I guess she had an itch :)

Is it Friday yet?

What's that? Not even close, you say? Dang .....

I'm already ready for the weekend. I'm in for a long & busy week. Mostly fun, some not-so-fun. Dentist appointment, parent- teacher conferences, 4H meeting, Jack O Lantern jaunt (will post pictures of that next week) .... October is just bursting with activity in these parts!

I am ready to say good-bye to summer & hello to fall. I love fall ... the colors ... the cool temperatures .... Halloween & Thanksgiving .... & while I LOVED the flowers I had in my garden this year, it's time to move on. I took this photo just a few weeks ago, & oh if you could see it now ~ lying there all sad.....  "help meeeeee"

Tuesday Muse, a day late

Yep, a day late ... that's me. Especially in recent weeks, because it seems all I do is wait for my computer to load .... & glare at the pop ups .... "plug in unresponsive" ..... "your page won't load ... care to kill, or wait?" .... grrrr .... I'm ready to kill something all right! I did get some tips that have helped a bit. Did a bit of fall cleaning so to speak ... so it's running a bit better - at least I can pay bills, chat on Facebook & UPDATE MY BLOG all in the same day!

My mums are now open. My burning bush is becoming quite red. Yesterday I smelled someone burning leaves. I love all things fall. I even changed out my bar in my Scentsy warmer .... it is now "Apple Pumpkin" from Yankee Candle. I don't even like pumpkin, but pumpkin & apple together is heavenly. Coincidentally, I just found a recipe for some Pumpkin Apple Bars - hoping to make them this weekend. I'll let you know how they turn out!

FALL!!

Grrr.... I've had quite a time trying to get this post written. Took me HOURS just to get to the Blogger screen. I *hate* my computer! Or maybe I *hate* my internet provider. Not sure which. My computer is about 5 years old ..... yet my son has issues also & his computer is only a year old. All I know is I'm sick of {not responding} and {"your plug in is unresponsive. Would you like to stop it?"} (that happens about 5 times right in a row). Sometimes I hate technology!!!

{/vent}

Ok then ....... FALL!!!! I *heart* fall! I love the cooler weather, the changing leaf colors, the pumpkins, Halloween, all of it! In the coming weeks I'm going to be sharing some {fall} pictures I've been taking, some {fall} recipes, & some of my favorite {fall} cards I've made in the past. Heck, maybe I'll even find the time to make a NEW {fall} card :)

I forgot to mention another fall favorite: mums!!! Here is one getting ready to open .....

I actually took this a few days ago. I need to get back out with the camera, they are probably all open & pretty & I'm missing it!

What is your favorite thing about fall?

Where did summer go?

Last year we went to Disney for a week. This summer we didn't go anywhere, but I think it went faster than last year. Between fairs & festivals, baseball games (many!), days at the beach & days at the zoo .... it went way too fast. As much as I like my job & am grateful to have it, I do miss being at home with the boys & having the whole summer to do all we wanted to do. I am lucky enough to work just part time, so it's a pretty nice balance  :)

My husband's company had a picnic at the zoo in July. It was AWESOME - we had the whole zoo to ourselves, and it was catered so every 10 feet (it seemed!) there was a tent with food. We rolled out to the parking lot at the end of the night.

While I was eating my yummy ice cream - THIS was staring at me. Not fond of snakes, but I think they make cool photo subjects. I'm pretty sure he wanted my Dove bar.

My first bee

Well not the first one I've SEEN lol .... but this is my very first photo of a bee. I love that you can see the pollen!

I hope you all have a great week! Mine has started out hot & sticky but it's going to (hopefully) cool down by tomorrow. We have baseball games all 5 nights this week. It's tough enough watching the games in this heat, I can't imagine actually playing {wimp}

Tuesday Muse

I was out in our vegetable garden yesterday, & there were about 30 of these babies flitting around ...

What's weird is, they were all the same. I was looking around for different colors so I could get a beautiful array of photos. But it was like a family gathering. I sure hope the buffet was all the mosquitoes that were buzzing around!
