High Hopes challenge 69 - little gems

Hello & Happy Sunday!! Only a week until Easter....& more importantly....SPRING BREAK!! We are not even going anywhere but I am looking forward to a week of not rushing around! The school year can get so crazy!!

This week's High Hopes challenge is little gems......we are to add rhinestones or pearls to our project. I didn't post my card on the High Hopes blog because as it happens, my card is very similar to Alex's card. I was about to upload my card into the file last night, when I saw hers...same image, same color, same little pearls for the necklace. So.... since I didn't want to be a copycat (although I swear I hadn't even seen her card before I did mine, lol) I decided not to add mine. But I am showing it here!! I love Dress Up Danni....& you can get her HERE at 7 Kids College Fund! I used Copic markers & Prisma pencils to color the image. The papers are Basic Grey Kioshi....I don't usually use any kind of purple but these papers are so pretty! I added glitter to her shoes...pearls to her necklace....& the GORGEOUS Sugar Sparkly Fluff to her boa.

A couple of close ups of Danni.....don't you wish YOU had a pair of sparkly purple shoes?

Hopefully you can see the Sparkly Fluff in this picture....you can see all the colors available at 7 Kids HERE. I love this stuff & will need them *all*!!

I hope you all have a splendid Sunday, & a great week. It's supposed to be reallllly nice here this week.....it may even hit 70 on Thursday....so we definitely have spring fever here!!!!

Honey Tilda

TGIF! It's been a long week & I have a ton to catch up on! Thankfully Michael is feeling much better, which makes for better days for mom!

I was finally able to ink up Honey Tilda, which I received in my last order from 7 Kids College Fund. I used lighter colors than I normally used, taking colors from the Basic Grey Sugared papers. I glitterized her wings & stitched all the edges of the papers. I used my new Martha Stewart Garden Trellis deep edge punch...I knew the first time I saw it I had to have it!! Some Primas & ribbon....& done!! More simple than I usually do, but I struggled with this card so I figured I'd better quit while I was somewhat ahead!

I hope you all have a great weekend! Right now I'm off to watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution....are any of you watching this?? Very enlightening!! Makes me want to never allow my kids to have hot lunch again! Bleah!!

7 Kids update

Hi all...I hope you're having a fantastic week!! I'm a bit behind, since Michael was home sick both Monday & Tuesday. I did take him to the doctor on Tuesday & he had a double ear infection & sinus infection. Whatever med they gave him is a miracle though, because just an hour after taking it he was 100x better! Still congested & he has a cough, but he's back in school where he should be!!

I've been working on a card for the last couple of days.....but it seems lately whatever I touch turns to crap! I'm dropping things....I got paint all over the place when I picked up something that wasn't dry....I've colored the same image 3 different times & I still don't like it......so......instead of a card for you today I'm just going to give you an update on the happenings at 7 Kids College Fund!

Beary sweet

Good Monday afternoon, all!! I hope you had a great weekend!! I didn't get a card done for the High Hopes challenge yesterday, which was to create a spring or Easter card (I've done a few of those recently, I just didn't get a new one done for the challenge!!). Michael woke up verrrry sick Saturday night. I'll spare you the details....I don't really want to relive it....but he's needed lots of snuggles & love the past couple of days!

Another reason I didn't get a card made is because I've been working on a little project. I'm IN LOVE with tear bears....I had never heard of them until I joined the TPHH group on Ebay.....but many of them create layouts & piecings with these bears & I knew I had to try one! My friend Sharon sent me a pattern & the mulberry paper used to make these cuties....& with her guidance I was able to create one! Here is my very first tear bear......

After I created this basic bear....I wanted to try a piecing. So....here is my first tear bear title...

I know many of you didn't understand what titles are or what they're used for when I posted my first one here.....but they are very popular on Ebay & I think they're adorable!! Some of these very talented ladies make entire 2 page, 12x12 layouts with these bears & other critters. And let me tell you...it takes a lot of time, patience, & creativity!! I'll leave those layouts for the experts...but in the meantime I'm having fun experimenting!!

Ok back to the real world!! I'm a stamper & I should probably stick with that!! I hope to get a new card done soon.....I have lots of rubber that has yet to see ink!!!

****DID YA HEAR???? The 3rd Magnolia Ink is now available for preorder at 7 Kids College Fund RIGHT HERE.....I have memorized every page of the last one & can't wait to get my hands on this one!! If you love Magnolias you will love this magazine!!!!

I hope you all have a great week!!!! C'mon....SPRING!!!!

Yearning

Hello & Happy St. Patty's Day!! Oh how I can remember the days of going out after work & drinking green beer! Now when I think of what my insides probably looked like after that....bleah...

Today I used a Penny Black stamp that I got at my LSS....for FREE because of that wonderful credit I got at their rummage a few months back!

This stamp is called Yearning....I colored the image with Copic markers.....added Star Dust Stickles to the flower.....& you probably can't see in this picture but I used my new Appletini Green Sparkly Fluff on the grass. Can't wait till our grass is that green!! Right now it's poo brown. I wonder if they have Sparkly Fluff in that color?

The papers are SU's Certainly Celery, Papertrey Ink Bitty Dots Poppy & Basic Grey Mellow. The sentiment is from Amuse.....my very first Amuse stamp! It also came from my LSS....I was thrilled to see that they are now carrying these! Various leaf dies & punches....& some Primas in the corner....all in all a very springy card!

Notice the sparkly flower....gosh what did we ever do before Stickles?

A closeup of the grass....hopefully you can see the fluff....& how it sparkles :)

I hope you all have a great evening, thank you so much for visiting!!

High Hopes challenge 67 ~ things with wings

Hello & Happy Sunday to all!! It's been a busy weekend & I'm looking forward to relaxing today! If you call helping with homework, cleaning & doing laundry relaxing :)

Today's High Hopes challenge is Things with Wings....use anything with wings on your card....butterfly, bird, ANGEL....

I used one of the many fun High Hopes angels....Bethany Angel. She's colored with Copics (notice I've been using those more often??)....& I used my new Sparkly Fluff from Our Craft Lounge. The color I used is Sugar, & you can get it at 7 Kids College Fund. (See all the fun colors HERE. I also got the Appletini Green. The name alone was enough for me!!) The papers are SU's Sage Shadow & Basic Grey Nook & Pantry. I inked the edges with Sage Shadow ink, then Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. The "thank you" is from Hanna Stamps....the butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch...& all the flowers are Primas.

Tried to get a close up to show all the details....but I don't think this photo shows *any* of the details, lol.

I sprayed all the flowers & the butterfly with my Pearl Glimmer Mist.....that & those adorable little flowers are my new favorite toys...I'm using them on everything!!

Also tried to get a good pic of the Sparkly Fluff.....don't know if you can see it but it is AWESOMELY pretty!! How can you not love this stuff....it's like Fun Flock & glitter in one!! Hey....at least you can see the shimmer from the Glimmer Mist in this picture!!

Be sure to check out the High Hopes blog....lots of fun creations!! Hope you can join in on this fun challenge!!

This card is a thank you card for my son's den leader. She's been his leader for 3 years & this week he crosses over into Boy Scouts. I'm very grateful to her for all she's done. And I'm so proud of my son for sticking with Scouts. He's learned so much, & he is joining a phenomenal Boy Scout troop. I'm excited for him & for all the experiences that lie ahead!

Hope you all have a great week!!

Hooray for Hanglars!!

Hello & Happy Friday!! I hope you've had a great week!! Nice & warm here....about 50 degrees right now & while I'm lovin' the warmer weather...I could really do without the brown, squishy, muddy ground that comes with it. Can't we just fast forward to GREEN?!!

Speaking of green, I was digging through my Hanglar images sent to me by a good friend recently, & came upon this cutie. I didn't mean for her to look like a leprechaun, but that's what she reminds me of!! Good thing St Patty's Day is coming up!

She is colored with a combination of Prismas & Copics.....papers are SU's Garden Green & Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety (hey, I used all garden papers, lol!)....I added Glossy Accents & glitter to her heart...& sprayed the whole image & the flowers with Pearl Glimmer Mist....this is the first time I've used this (although I have used Glimmer Mist, the Pearl is new to me).....ohhh is it pretty!! So shimmery....

A close up ...hopefully you can see the sparkly heart. Oh & for the first time I used chalk for the background!! My LSS had a 4 pack of chalk for just $1 so I thought I'd try it out....very soft & easy to blend....great for those skies!!

This photo is a bit on the light side but I was really trying to capture the glimmer....so shimmery & pretty :)

Well I'm off....our school dance is tonight & I have a gamillion things to do beforehand. I'm really looking forward to it though...almost as much as I used to look forward to my own dances!! Except now I don't have to listen to all the gossip & drama from my boy-crazy friends.....who likes whom....who was holding hands...he's dancing with who???? I don't like her outfit! Oh the memories....lol...

Is it spring yet??

Well not here it isn't!! Today it is dreary & damp....not spring like at all! But....I did make a very spring-ish card with one of the very adorable Magnolias from last year!

I actually *just* ordered this Strawberry Tilda from 7 Kids College Fund the other day.....& she's on her way to me right now. I really wanted to use her NOW (I'm not very patient) & lucky for me I had a few images of her in my stash!! I colored her with my Prismas, added Stickles to the flower & some Glossy Accents to the watering can. The papers are SU (one of those darn In Colors I can never remember) & K&Company Berry Sweet. The flower in the corner was cut using my Blossom Two Nesties....the raffia lace is from my friend Nikki's shop....I tied a strawberry charm to that using some tulle.....of course I decided to do this AFTER the card was all glued together! I have a habit of doing that....thinking of something that would look perfect AFTER it's all done. I managed to use my pokey tool to get the tulle through....but I highly suggest adding things like that BEFORE you glue the layers together, lol!

I was hoping you could see the shiny watering can in the closeup, but I'm not seeing it. Trust me, it's shiny :)

***New addition!!!!!! Click HERE to see the magnificent new Ritz microfine glitter at 7 Kids College Fund! Soooo many colors....how is a girl to choose????

Well this is the beginning of the rest of my week. Tomorrow is Matthew's basketball party (they had their tournament last Saturday), Thursday is his LAST den meeting before crossing over into Boy Scouts, Friday is our school dance & Saturday is the Pinewood Derby!! I'll try to sneak something in during that time, but if you don't hear from me you know where I am!! Thank you for visiting!!!

High Hopes challenge 66 ~ stars

Hello friends!! Welcome to another High Hopes challenge!! Today's hostess is Danielle....& the challenge is to use stars on your card or project!

I used Summer's Sweetness...isn't she a cutie? I sure wish I was sitting in my nice pretty green grass eating watermelon! I colored her with Copic markers.....the papers are from My Mind's Eye & Cosmo Cricket...I paper pieced her dress & hair bows. I used my Martha doily lace border punch on the bottom & my icicle punch for the grass.....hand cut the star....oh how I was wishing I had a star punch or die, lol. I also added a silver star clip to the ribbon. Oh....& I used Star Dust Stickles on the edge of her dress...that counts too, right? :)

***Don't forget that you can order High Hopes stamps from 7 Kids College Fund!! If it's not listed in the store, email them to special order it!!! Click HERE for special order instructions!

Remember to link your creation to the High Hopes blog comments for a chance to win some High Hopes yumminess!! Have a great Sunday!!

Baby's First Easter

Happy Tuesday all!!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days....I had a *horrible* weekend! It was one of those spurts when everything went wrong. My cat was sick, my son was sick, & my garbage disposal was sick! Puke everywhere....water everwhere....ugh! Things are better now, but I am way behind on everything!

I think I told you once or twice (lol) that I needed to do a custom card for a customer. It's a Baby's First Easter card for her granddaughter. Here is what I came up with....

I absolutely adore Bunny with Bonnet from High Hopes! The image is colored with Copics & cut out...I added Liquid Applique to the tail, & Fun Flock to the ears & chest. The papers are all DCWV....the designer paper is Nana's Nursery Baby Girl. I used the Martha Stewart Icicle border punch...& made it grass. Added some ribbon & flowers.....& a heart charm...the Baby's First Easter is printed on the computer, then cut out with my smallest Labels 4 Nestie.

This card is still pending approval. I originally had LA on the chest but she didn't like it...she said it reminded her of a beard so I took that off & added the Fun Flock instead. This is why I generally don't do custom orders....the customer & I always have different ideas! Well if she ends up not liking it, I will try again & this one will go into my Etsy shop!! Good think I love making Easter cards!

Thanks so much for visiting...I hope you enjoy your week!! My kids have yet another early day on Thursday, which will be filled with a visit to the eye dr (I think my 11 yr old needs glasses!), the Scout shop (he crosses over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts in a few weeks...gotta get that shirt we were supposed to get a couple of years ago LOL) & a Scout meeting. They were supposed to have off Friday but they are thankfully making up a snow day :)
