Ahhhhhh.....Prismas.....

Hello all, & Happy Friday!! Hope you had a splendid day....it was absolutely beautiful here today. The calm before the storm, or so the weatherman says!

Well, after 2 cards in a row colored with Copics.....I had to go back to my comfort zone, lol. I do like coloring with the markers, but it seems to take me twice as long to get it "just right".

Since I've done a summer card & a winter card this week, I thought I'd break out a fall image!! This is one of High Hopes' new images, Milton's Fall Harvest. I was so happy to see the return of Milton....I just love this moose :) It took a while coloring them apples, lol....I wanted to get the shading exact....it was tough! The papers are SU's Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Naturals Ivory, & Basic Grey Infuse. The sentiment is from Magnolia....I added some flowers & TONS of leaves (it *is* fall, after all...even though all my leaves are green!)....& some stitching around the edges. Oh, & I distressed a few edges again....must have made another mistake that I needed to cover up, lol. I love the look of distressed edges....but I hate doing it. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I hate the sound & I hate the feel....reminds me of my grandma's metal nail file! Ick!!

Here's a close up of Milton.....before we know it, it *will* be time to pick apples!! I know I just said this....but where does the time go??

I hope you all have a great weekend! I will be back Sunday with my High Hopes challenge card, but my posts may be sporadic after that for a week or so. Monday my grandma turns 90 & Wednesday my son turns 7. We have quite a bit of celebrating to do!! Oh, & we can't forget Jake & Elwood....they turn 14 on Thursday!! My fur babies are getting up there in age....I will have to buy them something nice for their special day as well :)

Lazy summer days

Hard to believe summer is 2/3 over, at least as far as school is concerned! Only one more month of freedom....sigh....why does summer go so quickly?? Even days like today.....raining on & off, chilly...seem to fly by!!

I know I mentioned my wonderful reader Susan the other day, who sent me TONS of summer Magnolia images. I'm very thankful she sent a bunch, because this is one Tilda gone BAD, lol. I do like how it turned out.....finally. I don't know if you can tell, but her swimming suit top is cut out & popped up. Not by choice. I royally messed up the one that came with this image, lol. I used Copics, then added Prismas, & it STILL didn't look right so I tried Twinkling H2O's to cover all the hideousness. Didn't work. It was a big ole shimmery mess. So I took another image & recolored the suit, cut it out (ohhhhh....all those ruffles.....) & popped it on top. THEN I sponged the edges.....bad move!! I hated how it turned out! Hence, the distressing. You can still tell the edges are inked....but now it looks like it's supposed to look that way!

I did color the image with Copics......2 cards in a row!!! Woohooooo!! I think I'm conquering my fear of them!! I used a Copic Spica glitter pen on the dots on her suit, & her hair thingies. The flower is made using my Cuttlebug scalloped circle dies.....the papers are Basic Grey Mellow....the layout is from this week's SCS sketch challenge....& the little sun & "summer" are from a clear Stampendous set.

Here's a close up....guess you still can't really tell the suit is cut & popped.....you'll just have to trust me. I would not lie about my errors, lol!

Today I went to my LSS & got the BG Junebug & Lemonade pads. I know, I know.....you all already have them. But they didn't have them last time I was there, & since I have a credit with them (another rummage sale recently, resulting in over $50 credit!!) I just waited patiently. And now I have them :)

Hope you have a terrific night & as always, thanks for visiting!!

Tail wagging day

Good morning all!! Hope you're having a fantastic week!! This is going to be quick, because it's beautiful outside & I need to get some work done in the garden!

I've really been having trouble finding time to ink up all the new rubber from High Hopes. I love love love getting all these new stamps, but sometimes it's overwhelming. I want to use them all at once, lol!! I'm not very patient when it comes to getting things done! This image is called Heidi & Madison .....what a cute pair! I actually colored this with my Copics.....& added some clear Spica glitter pen to her bow & hearts. The papers are SU's Creamy Caramel & K&Co Madeline. The sentiment is from Hanna Stamps....they have some of the best sayings! Flowers...leaves...pearls....the usual, lol.

Here's a closeup. Every time I use my Copics I think I learn something new, & hopefully every time I use them I improve just a smidge!! I decorated the inside to match the front.....but it's boring so I didn't take a photo, lol. I'm going to try to get this on Ebay today.....cards with dogs on them usually do pretty well.

Enjoy your day!!!

High Hopes challenge #41

Good Sunday morning, peeps!! It's very very early Sunday morning....but it *is* technically Sunday so I wanted to post my card for the High Hopes challenge. We just got back from the baseball game....so fun....fireworks were awesome....a good time was had by all!!

Today's challenge is to make it sparkle & shine!!!!

I used one of the new releases.....Bearly Swooshin....isn't he cute? Do I say that about ALL the High Hopes images? LOL!! The papers are Bazzill Dots (NEWS FLASH........I found 8x8 pads of Bazzill Dotted Swiss paper at Michael's!!! They've carried various Bazzill pads before....but the dots are NEW!!! Next time they have paper pads on sale I'm buying every one they have!!!!).....& the pattern paper is from a pad I bought last Xmas at Michael's.....it's from Basic Grey & it's called Mistletoe & Pear. It *may* have been a limited edition, or perhaps they will have it again but only at Xmas?? Great great holiday papers!! Anyway, I colored the image with Prismas & gamsol....added lots of glitter to the snow....& clear embossed his goggles....covered a snowflake punchie (my friend Cheryl sent me a bunch of snowflakes last year....thanks again, Cheryl....this is my last one! Guess I'll have to break down & buy those punchesl!!) with Diamond Dust, Anna-style. The sentiment is from a cheapie clear set.... Imaginesce, I think.

Here's a close up of the bear.....looks like he's having a ball.....I think I'll enjoy the sunshine & 80 degree temps even more so after making this one....lol...

Close up of the snowflake.....I couldn't get the button to adhere to the snowflake (too much DD, I guess....nothing would stick) so I actually threaded that twine through the button, then through the snowflake. That was the hardest part about the card, lol!!

Here's a pic of the inside.....yep, there's my last snowflake.....I will have to buy either the punches (I believe they're the Marvy....all different sizes) or find some snowflake dies. Does Spellbinders make snowflake dies?? Anyway.....I loved using the ones I had so this year I'm going to be more prepared!!!

Ok, I'm off to bed......seeing double....lol....thanks so much for looking, & please check out the other fabulous creations on the High Hopes blog!!! Have a fabulous Sunday!!

You're only a kid once....

I was chatting recently with a fellow Etsy seller I met on the forums over there. She told me she was looking for a birthday card for her sister. I don't think I've EVER done a card by request. I've duplicated my cards.....which for the record I don't enjoy...lol...but I don't think I've ever had someone list a bunch of elements that they would like in a card. But....after seeing how much she was offering me to do it....I decided I was up to the challenge....lol!

She said her sister is older, lives in Florida, loves tropical colors, loves ric rac (which she said she calls "rickarack").....& is just one fun loving woman! I went back & forth on which stamp I should use....we perused Amazon together....& she decided on a stamp that of course I didn't have. You know what? She bought the stamp for me!! She decided this was THE stamp that must be used on this birthday card! So after receiving the stamp.....reading over her requirements again....& spending a lot of time thinking....this is what I came up with....

It ended up being really fun to make once I had the idea in my head. I knew right when she told me the colors to use that I would use Basic Grey's Urban Prairie paper. I also used SU's Kiwi Kiss & the turquoise layer is DCWV. I colored this hip lady with Prismas & gamsol.....popped up the surfboard after clear embossing it.....sponged the water, sun & clouds....& added real sand. I punched some flowers....added some pearls....& some "rickarack", lol. For the finishing touch, I stamped the little starfish, cut it out with my Nesties & attached it to the flowers with some floss.

This fun granny is one of those little Inkadinkadoo clear sets. I swear she reminds me of my grandma!! She used to visit Florida every year for 2 months with her sister & BIL. Anyway, the sentiment that comes with it, which I stamped on the inside, is "You're only a kid once, but you can be young for a lifetime". I'm happy to report that my buyer LOVES it!! Whew!!! Not sure I'll do too many more custom orders....this was stressful!! LOL!!

Tomorrow is lots of work in the garden, then tomorrow night we're heading to a minor league baseball game. It's an hour away, but so much fun. We go every year with the Cub Scout pack....this particular game has fireworks afterward & they are FANTASTIC!!! I will be back Sunday with my card for the High Hopes challenge!! Thanks for visiting!!!

Another super duper fantastic blog reader.....

Goodness gracious, do I have the best blog readers in the world or what?? I received a wonderful goodie package the other day from Susan Paulson, another reader who read my woes of not ordering the Magnolia summer kit. She immediately offered to stamp off some images for me. Well....let me tell you....not only did she stamp 4 images of each & every stamp in the kit....she stamped everything onto Neenah paper (which I'm loving!!)....stamped them absolutely perfectly....AND she painstakingly used her markers to stamp the strawberries, so I could have red strawberries with green tops instead of just black ones. Is she awesome or what?? Thank you so much, Susan!!

Of course I couldn't wait to play, & I knew I wanted to use the adorable ice cream-eating Tilda first. She reminds me of me!! Ok, well she's way cuter....but I do love my ice cream!! I used my Prismas & gamsol to color her, then cut her out & plopped her onto a white panel embossed with Swiss Dots. The papers are SU's Pink Passion & Basic Grey's Sultry. I followed a sketch from this past spring on Truly Scrumptious....added a Hero Arts sentiment....& some ribbon, flowers & Dew Drops.

Here's a close up of the cutie. I absolutely adore each & every one of the new Magnolias & can't wait to play with some more!! Thanks again, Susan.....& thanks to every one else who has offered to send me images!! In my book, there can never be too many Magnolias!!

Well I'm off to feed my kids some dinner then take them to swimming lessons! Michael just advanced a level & he's so proud :)

As always, thanks so much for visiting!!!!

My very own Rachelle Anne Miller stamp!

It is AMAZING the number of people whom I've become friends with since starting this blog. I am thankful for each & every one. Recently, one of these new friends emailed me after reading THIS POST. She said she had some Rachelle Anne Miller stamps that she never used, & wanted to send them to me. About a week later, all the way from the UK, I received not one, not two, but FOUR RAM stamps!! And she wanted nothing in return. She said if I had time that she would love one of my cards. Not only that, but just yesterday I received some Magnolia stamps from her.....NEVER USED!! Again, she wants nothing!

ELAINE LIVESEY........you are a sweetheart!!! I will never be able to thank you enough for sending me all of these stamps!! I hereby swear to show each & every one you sent me lots of love!!!!!

So.....I couldn't wait to make a card with one of these cuties. You all know how much I *heart* my fur babies.....so I picked Lily holding her precious kitty!! I colored her with Prismas & gamsol, & added Cotton Candy Stickles to her hair bows, hearts, & the doodads around her. I used paper from my favorite K&Co pad....Wild Raspberry....& some DCWV paper embossed with Swiss Dots for the strip across. Some punched flowers, leaves, lovely organdy ribbon & a heart charm finish off this card.....my first RAM card using one of MY VERY OWN STAMPS!!!!

Here's a close up of Lily....isn't she precious?!??!

I did decorate the inside....but it's rather plain so I skipped the picture. Just used the same papers as the front....nothing special, lol!

Thank you again Elaine.....you are a treasure!!

Fa la la la la..........

Yep, this week's High Hopes challenge is Christmas in July!!! I've been seeing this challenge a lot lately, & although it's the middle of summer & I so dread the busy holiday season which seems to come so quickly, I have been enjoying looking at everyone's fun Christmas creations!!!

I used one of the new release stamps for my card.....Santa in Chimney....isn't he the cutest?? I colored him with my Prismas & gamsol.....used a bit of Twinkling H2O's here & there....added Liquid Applique to the furry part of his suit...& Stickles to the snow. The sentiment is from SU's Riveting.....I don't use many SU stamps but this set sees a lot of ink! Love those circle sentiments (now if I could just win that darn adorable circle set from Aud, lol). The papers are SU's Riding Hood Red (another favorite) & Basic Grey Wassail (ditto). This is also one of my favorite layouts.....it was a sketch from SCS?? Friday Sketchers?? I can't remember, but I use it a lot, lol!! I added a few poinsettias & leaves.....& the charm is from Ebay.

Here's a close up of the fat guy himself....I apologize for the poor pictures....I just can't seem to ever take a good picture of anything red!! Good thing you all know what these papers look like in person!!

Same layout for the inside....can't have anything NOT match now, can we??

Please check out the High Hopes blog when you get a chance....check out the other Divas' creations...& play along if you can!! You'll be one card closer to completing those holiday greetings!!

Recipe Thursday. I mean Friday!

Wow....so sorry...I had every intention of posting this yesterday. We were in & out 7 times yesterday......& every time I was home I forgot. I'd remember when we'd be in the car....but by the time we got home I forgot again. Old-timers brain....what can I say??

Anyway....today's recipe is one I got off a Keebler graham cracker crust. Ya know that piece of cardboard on the front....they sometimes have recipes on the back!! So I hope it's ok that I post this......I wouldn't want the recipe police to come get me. Or worse yet, a couple of those elves!! If my doorbell rings, & there are some itty bitty people standing there with police uniforms on.....

CARAMEL APPLE CHEESECAKE PIE

1 graham cracker pie crust
1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling, divided
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping
1/3 cup pecans, toasted

Place crust on baking sheet. Spread half of pie filling in crust. Set aside. In large mixing bowl beat cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice & vanilla on medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until just combined after each one. Gently spread over filling in crust. Bake on baking sheet at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool for 1 hour. Refrigerate at least 3 hours. Spread with remaining pie filling. Drizzle with ice cream topping. Garnish with pecans. Store in refrigerator.

This is sooooo easy & soooo yummy!!! I thank the Keebler elves for coming up with this recipe :)

Don't forget my blog candy ends at midnight tonight!!! The post is right above this one so be sure to leave a comment! I will be back sometime tomorrow to announce the winner!!!!

Furry fun

Wow.....2 days in a row....that's a rarity these days!!

As I said a couple of days ago, I did get my new High Hopes stamps....& oh what fun they are!! Can you imagine trying to decide which to use first? I know, I can hear the collective "Awwwwww......."

Since I'm a huge fur baby fan, I decided to ink up Andrea's Kitties first. I would say it's my favorite of the new release, but that will only last until I ink up the next one, lol. I used my Prismas to color her....stamping the kitties twice....cutting them & popping them on dimensionals. But then when it was done, I thought it looked dumb. I mean, now her hands are lower than the basket. That's not right. I almost ripped that layer off & tried to redo it, but decided to just let it be. THEN the layout was supposed to follow this week's Friday Sketchers sketch......but I couldn't get it to work. I couldn't figure out what to use for the 2 elements beside the image. I had tufts of tulle there....but yanked them off because they looked dumb....so decided to just finish it the way I wanted & forget the sketch. I'll have to try that layout for another card because I really do like it. But now looking at it, I wish I hadn't put the tulle behind the image. An actual ribbon would have looked better....or nothing at all. The tulle just looks.....you got it, DUMB!!!! (and besides it's crooked......grrrr.......)

Believe it or not, I don't hate this card, lol. The image is so darn cute that I don't have to like the rest of it. Oh, but I did use flower punches that kind of look like daisies, so that makes this my card for this past Sunday's High Hopes challenge.....to use daisies on your card!! At least I got something right! Until someone leaves me a comment that they aren't daisies.....

Do you see why some days it's difficult to be me??

Here's a close up of the cutie with her kitties.....the card doesn't look bad if you just look at this picture.......baaahahahaaaa.....

You still have a few days to enter my blog candy.....see first post above....& I just have to give a shout out to Patsy B.....who left the funniest comment on that post....but no email address or I would have emailed her privately. Girl, you made me laugh out loud with your comment....I don't know what's funnier....the wallpaper, or the frozen Snickers for dinner!!

This is what I should be doing.....

Yes, this is definitely what I need.....to relax in a pool with a drink!! What a few days I've had. I won't go into details....but I started this card on Thursday & just finished it last night! Life has gotten in the way once again!!

I was sad that I hadn't received my new High Hopes stamps yet, so I dug out one of my all time favorite HH stamps......Choppers Chilaxin'. I think this stamp (along with the Chilax sentiment) was one of my very first stamps I got as a dt member. It will always be one of my favorites!!

I colored Choppers with Prismas.....added Crystal Effects to his glass (I decided he is drinking a Sonic cherry limeade, in honor of our very first Sonic opening soon!!!), sunglasses, & water (I also added some glitter to the water). The sun is sponged with Colorbox Yellow Citrus chalk ink. I used SU's Real Red, Bazzill Bling & some unknown....but gorgeous...designer paper from my stash. Used a few of my Nesties.....added some Primas & leaves....& frayed some ribbon to go behind the sentiment.

Here's a closeup of Choppers.....could he be any more relaxed? I mean.......CHILAXED???

And I just had to share this pic of my fur babies.....they love shoes, lol. I thought Jake was looking a bit cranky there (he's on the left)........

So it's a good thing it was nap time!! Well, he IS almost 14.....he gets tired easily :)

Don't forget to enter my blog candy, which will end on Friday. The good news is I did receive my new High Hopes goodies, & while I didn't get the stamps yet that I originally ordered for my blog candy, I *did* receive a few extras of the new release!! So I'll be doing another candy soon after this one is done. Maybe for my birthday next month.......or maybe to celebrate (or lament, depending on your circumstance) the beginning of the new school year....will have to think on that.....

Thank you all for visiting....& for being patient during my creative slump! I go through these every so often & there's just nothing I can do about it. Hopefully this card will get me going in the right direction again!!

New release tonight!

Hi everyone!!

Still no new card.....I'm still in my non-creative mode. But I wanted to let you all know that High Hopes is releasing a bunch of new stamps sometime after midnight tonight!! It's another great release so you should definitely put "check out new High Hopes stamps" high on your list of things to do tomorrow morning!!

I also wanted to let you know that I will be posting my blog candy sometime this weekend. I will not have a card for the High Hopes challenge this week.....hard to have a card when I'm not making anything...lol....so instead I will post my candy! Be sure to check back!!

Hope you all have a great weekend....it's supposed to be beautiful here so I'm envisioning LOTS of yard work in my near future!!!

Blog candy....

Hello all....Happy Wednesday! Nope, I don't have my blog candy ready yet.....but a good friend of mine has an amazing array that she is giving away!!! Check out the HH DIVA/artiste extraordinaire herself.....CRISSY!!!! She has a grand prize.....a second prize....& a third & fourth prize!!! Makes my blog candy look piddly....so I'll just wait a few days to post mine, lol!!

Actually, I am taking a few days off. I just finished a few Etsy orders....& I'm carded out. I haven't received my new High Hopes images yet, either, & I was really hoping to do a sneak peek or two (Crissy also has a few of those on her blog!!!) but it works out because honestly, I am burnt out. I am sad. The whole job thing has really gotten me down. I know I'm not the only one....but I've been looking for quite a while now & it really shoots down one's self esteem to send resume after resume, only to hear nothing. I keep questioning my decision 10 years ago to quit an EXCELLENT job that I absolutely LOVED to stay home with my new baby. I know in my heart I did the right thing by staying home with my kids....but never in a million years did I believe I'd be trying to go back to work in an economy such as this. My husband's hours have been cut.....he's only been working 3 weeks out of the month....& now today I found out his unemployment has been lowered. So......I need to take a few days to regroup & charge my battery. I'm going to spend time playing games with my kids....because they make me smile :)

I will be back soon with that blog candy, though!! Even if I don't get my package with the blog candy rubber.....I have a back up plan, lol. So stay tuned!! Have a great week & don't forget to check out Crissy's blog candy!!!

Another Sunday, another challenge!!

Good morning to you!! Are you all recuperating from the smashing 4th of July festivities?? LOL....lots & lots of fireworks here....neighbors were shooting them off all night, my poor fur baby!! One's terribly afraid of storms....& fireworks....while the other is not. And they grew up together....I find that odd, lol.

Anyway....today's High Hopes challenge is Lots & Lots of Polka Dots!!! Oh, how I *heart* polka dots!! I could have done way more.....but I really love this paper & didn't want to cover it up too much, or over embellish to take away from the gorgeousness of the dots!!

I used Bedelia Butterfly for my card, which also happens to be part of this month's POTM stamp set.....check out the entire set HERE. I colored her with Prismas & gamsol, & COATED her wings with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I don't know what it is about wings....when I see them, I must glitterize them!! I sponged the background with Colorbox Alabaster chalk ink, because the white card stock was too stark against the creamy colored paper. I used SU's Basic Gray for the base, Old Olive for the matte & the dotted paper is My Mind's Eye. I did some stitching.....added some tulle in the corners.....& of course she had to be watering something so I spritzed some Primas & leaves with Glimmer Mist & popped them under her watering can. I tried to get a pic of the shimmery flowers....to no avail....a photographer I am not!!!

Here's a close up of Bedelia....isn't she sweet?? The POTM set is really a great deal, so go check it out if you haven't already!! You can also see some great sample cards on the same page!

Here's the inside, all done up real pretty, lol. Same papers, same flowers, & lots of stitching. I added the Sprinkled With Love sentiment, which is also part of the POTM set!

Be sure to check out the High Hopes blog so you can see all the other fantastic dotty creations!!

Thanks for visiting!! I hope you have a great Sunday, & hopefully I'll get that coveted High Hopes package this week so I can post my blog candy!! Can't wait!!!

I can't believe it's the 4th of July already!!

This summer sure is flying by!!!!!

Porcelain Tilda

Happy Wednesday everyone!! Hope you are all having a great day! Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!! It's actually cold here today.....around 60 degrees....brrrrr....not a very nice start to July. But it's supposed to be nice this weekend & since we always go to the parade & the fireworks on the 4th, the weather that day is more important!!

Today I played with one of my Tildas that I received from one of my friends. Not sure who sent it....I have so many friends that provide me with images....but thank you to whomever did!!! I wish I could buy every single Magnolia stamp out there....they are so adorable! Unfortunately I wasn't able to buy the summer kit & I'm so sad, because I just saw the stamps today & they are SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!

Anyway....on to my card....I decided to *finally* break out the Basic Grey Porcelain pad. I bought it about a month ago & have been just gazing at it. I'm not a hoarder.....I just hadn't used the "right" image to justify cutting into these beautiful papers...lol. But this Tilda was perfect.....love the pinks & greens. I used the Friday Sketchers sketch from this past week for my layout....I love it & I'm sure I'll use it again! I colored Tilda mainly with my Prismas & gamsol.....with a touch of Copics here & there....& cut her out. I sponged the oval she's sitting in very lightly with.....brace yourself.....Mauve Mist ink!! Remember that color?? It happened to go well with the pinks in the BG paper. I'm surprised my pad isn't dried up!! I used Bazzill Bling for the matting & for some of the punched flowers.....& Certainly Celery for the leaves. I love how this turned out (not hard to mess up a Magnolia.....they are cute by themselves!!).....& it will go on either Ebay or Etsy as soon as I can make an envelope!

Here's a close up of the cutie patootie.....I just love her outfit, lol!

That's it for now.....still waiting for my goodies from High Hopes....it's so hard to wait, especially since I've already seen the new stamps. They are CUTE....you're gonna want to save your pennies for this release!!!!!
